I never set out to sell furniture. In February 2019, I started a website to help Montreal artists sell their work online and save on supplies by ordering together. One year later, the pandemic hit, and I had a warehouse full of oil paintings and few customers. I soon needed more income to support the business and I accepted a job that would allow me to work from home. That's when I realized that my regular office chair, which had become my all-day-chair, was causing me serious back and hip pain.

Tapping my contacts from sourcing art materials, I found a key manufacturer of high-end office chairs that supplies most major American brands. I was surprised at how much I saved from not paying the ridiculous markup those brands charge. Hint: 10,000%. When I first sat down, I was shocked! I felt instant relief from both my back and hip pain. It was so profound I literally laughed out loud for a solid minute. That's when Shand Ergonomics was born.

We've hit more than our share of bumps on the road. In fact, due to the pandemic, we've actually donated more products than we've sold! All that to say, since I first sat in my new chair those years ago, my mission been clear: to get you comfortable — at a fair price. If we help you sit through your workday, then we've done our job.
